whitecane1.jpgWhite Cane Day

Lions thoughout the world dedicate a special time each year to ask the public to join with them in one of their primary missions as an organizaation; assistance to the blind. The white cane, a device that helps identify individuals with loss of sight, has been selected as the symbol and title for this event. In the Prescott Sunrise club the responsibility for the coordination of this event rests with the first vice president, which, in the 2009-10 year, is Lion Don Shaffer. This years very successful event will be held on September 26th.
The public is quite informed about the role that Lions play in providing glasses for youth and supporting sight conservation generally. Their contributions are made willingly and with a smile and Lions eveywhere thank them for their support.

newspaper_recycling2.jpgNewspaper Recycling Project

Recycling one ton of newspapers, catalogues and telephone books saves 14 trees, 3.3 cubic feet of landfill space and provides a child with a free eye exam and glasses.

Newspaper recycling begins with you. Save your newspapers, magazines, catalogs and old phone books, tie or bag them using Kraft or plastic grocery bags to ease handling, and routinely take them to the sites listed below. These collection points are provided throughout Prescott Valley by supportive businesses and agencies. Thank you for all your efforts.
